Overview

Jones Power is seeking to hire an Associate Estimator whose role will support estimating and project proposal functions in multiple regions for the company. This is a mid - level position with a midstream logistics focus. Estimating experience in other related environments is a plus as well as prior experience in business development efforts in a timely manner.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists the preconstruction department in preparing cost estimates assuring that all necessary costs are detailed and included in the estimate, such as management services, equipment, material costs, construction costs, operating costs, and other costs associated with logistics, trucking and construction.
• Know and be able to explain the details behind each estimate, including the basis of the man-hours allocated for each task, personnel resources needed to execute each task, etc.
• Maintains lines of communications between company departments, project managers, and clients regarding cost estimating activities.
• Attaining quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Establishing and maintaining relationships with contractors and vendors.
• Assists project manager with alternative project execution approaches based on the scope of work and the most cost-effective execution methods available.
• Provides timely quotes (margin, profit, and quote sheet).
• Other tasks include but are not limited to preparing process flow diagrams, datasheets, and technical job reports.
• Assessing the risk factors associated with a project.
• Identifying bid opportunities, visiting project sites, and attending pre-bid meetings
• Monitoring project progress and creating project status reports for project managers and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Science, or Construction Management, or in other related discipline is preferred
• Minimum 1-2 years Estimating experience is desired
• Basic knowledge of logistics, trucking, rail, or construction
• Ability to read and understand specifications and drawings
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• Ability to work in stressful situations and manage multiple deadlines
• Critical thinking and ability to quickly learn new concepts
• Strong background in Microsoft Suite
• Experience in HCSS HeavyBid a plus, will be required to learn
• Ability to work in fast-paced environment
• Up to 10% travel is required
• Ability to work individually as well as in a team setting
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Position is based at the Jones Power office in Hattiesburg, MS.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
