Position Description
Advertised Job Summary
The faculty of the Department of Anthropology at the University of South Carolina invite applications for a sociocultural anthropologist at the rank of Associate Professor to begin August 16, 2023. The position is for a tenured, 9-month appointment, with a 2/2 teaching load. The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. and be tenurable in the Department of Anthropology at the University of South Carolina. The applicant must have research experience in India and Pakistan. Theoretical foci on issues of memory and mobility, humanitarian studies, as well as race, space, and segregation will have special consideration. A strong publication record is necessary, and our expectation is that candidates will have published at least one anthropological monograph with a first-tier press, as befits a tenured Associate Professor position.
Required Education and Experience
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Anthropology.
Preferred Qualifications
Applicants must have research experience in India and Pakistan. Theoretical foci on issues of memory and mobility, humanitarian studies, as well as race, space, and segregation will have special consideration.
