Job description
STO Building Group, a global leader in construction management and general contracting in the US, Canada, UK, and Ireland, is looking for an Associate Regulatory Compliance Counsel to join its Compliance and Ethics Department. The Department’s mission is to build and manage a compliance program that supports compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and proactively identifies and reduces risk, while fostering a culture of integrity across the STOBG family of companies, from top-level executive strategy to day-to-day operations.
As Associate Regulatory Compliance Counsel, you will play a key role in expanding and growing STOBG’s commitment to compliance. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and skilled at building rapport and collaborating with a variety of stakeholders. You should have keen interest in providing guidance to business stakeholders across a variety of legal issues and be passionate about promoting the value of compliance and ethics and building a culture of integrity.
Responsibilities
- Help drive and provide counsel on compliance with construction project management standards enterprise-wide, including developing training and communications and enhancing policies and procedures
- Provide program management support for STOBG’s construction management guidelines, code of conduct, anti-corruption, and other corporate policies
- Conduct, direct, and support internal investigations, including collecting and reviewing information, interviewing witnesses and subjects, preparing investigation reports, and coordinating needed remediation.
- Design and deliver live and web-based training across the organization
- Prepare communication materials for diverse audiences to reinforce and support the compliance program, and assist in designing overall communications strategy
- Contribute to and support data protection and privacy compliance initiatives, including developing training and monitoring and responding to legal and regulatory developments
- Assist in mapping the company’s internal controls infrastructure, assessing potential weaknesses, and monitoring the controls environment for potential breach
- Support critical aspects of the company’s internal compliance audit function
- Drive compliance program remedial efforts identified as a result of program evaluation
- Undertake special projects and support other compliance program initiatives, as needed
Minimum Qualifications
- JD degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one US state bar
- 3+ years as a practicing attorney
- 2+ years of experience in/knowledge of corporate compliance and ethics
- Excellent problem-solving, written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Willingness to travel as required from 15% to 25% (both domestic and international)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the construction industry
Desired Salary: $125,000 - $155,000 + bonus, compensation based on experience
