Benefits Summary:
The Associate Vice President of Student Services provides student-centered and ethical leadership to members of the Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC) community with a focus on student success. As a key leader, this position works in collaboration with the Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs, under the direction of the Provost and Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs, to champion an equitable, student-centered teaching and learning environment. The Associate Vice President of Student Services must be innovative and offer demonstrated capacity for effective change management to ensure an efficient, student-ready, relationship model. This position is responsible for managing the comprehensive Student Services functions at the College, including admissions and registration, financial aid, academic and transitional services, student data systems, student support services, academic advising, career services, assessment center, student conduct including Title IX, and student life. The Associate Vice President of Student Services reports directly to the Provost and Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs.
Responsibilities:
- Provide overall direction and development for the Student Services team and directly supervise Student Services leadership.
- Collaboratively review, develop, and implement policies related to student services and ensure that the policies are up-to-date and are being implemented fairly and consistently.
- Mediate conflict and assist in coordinating responses to emergencies and crisis situations that involve students.
- Lead and/or serve on various committees including the Student Affairs Leadership Team and other campus-wide committees.
- Collaborate regularly with the Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs.
- Manage cost-effective operation for the budget of student services individual units.
- Coordinate divisional professional engagement and development offerings.
- Maintain currency in student services best practices, including software solutions.
- Provide leadership to the student conduct and academic appeals processes.
- Promote excellence through continuous process improvement and the creative pursuit of new ideas, partnerships, and systems.
- Ensure adherence to College policies and promote efficiency in the operation of College services and support functions.
- Provide oversight for designated units by supervising a robust staff and managing allocated resources.
- Demonstrated skill in collecting, interpreting, synthesizing, assessing, and analyzing high-level data to make data-informed decisions and report out systematically
- Maintain a record of successful collaboration with other organizational units toward a shared goal.
- Develop resources and strategies for students across the college, including initiatives that focus on the relationships among student success, persistence to graduation, and advising functions.
- Assess activities undertaken to improve student retention, persistence, and graduation.
- Support and improve successful initiatives and discontinue initiatives that are not effective.
- Collect and interpret data that recognizes the cultural and socio-economic differences among learners to demonstrate areas of needed support for advising and student success.
- Leverage performance indicator tools, analyze data, and share results on a frequent and regular basis with deans, faculty, and staff for timely intervention.
- Advance the development, refinement, and enhancement of services and support provided to transfer students.
- Advance the development, refinement, and expansion of academic success programming for at-risk students including first-generation and Pell students, as well as those on academic notice and/or probation.
- Serve as the College’s representative at appropriate community meetings.
- Promote diversity, inclusion, and equitable practices.
- Participate on appropriate College teams and contribute to accomplishing the goals and objectives of the team(s).
- Assist in seeking outside resources through grant acquisitions and CVTC Foundation fundraising.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Intermediate knowledge of and skills with technology including software programs for communication, data collection, and decision making including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel to CVTC campuses and other locations as needed to perform position responsibilities.
- Master’s degree required, degree in a student services leadership field preferred.
- Minimum of five years of senior leadership experience in student services required.
- Experience with long-range strategic planning preferred.
