Position Description:
This position is a vital position for the success of Beacon College athletics. The Assistant Athletic Director will work closely with the Athletic Director on all decisions for the athletic department. This position will help organize and give infrastructure for a beginning athletic department.
The position will also help build and maintain a women’s basketball team. The coach will strategize and work closely with the athletic director to help make the most effective team.
Beacon College is now a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association and is entering its first year of athletic competition.
Position Reports to: Director of Fitness and Athletics
Assistant Athletic Director Responsibilities:
The Assistant Athletic Director shall be responsible for performing the following functions and activities:
Creates scheduling for athletic programs’ practices, competitions, locations, team rosters and distributes accordingly.
- Organize travel for the Beacon College athletic department.
- Handle all purchases for the athletic department.
- Cultivate and strategize with the athletic director to implement women’s fitness on campus.
- Assists with website and social media strategy for overall department.
- Manages periodic release and facilitates all media requests, credentials and confirmation of appearances.
- Organize potential recruits.
- Help grow athletics at Beacon College.
- Any other functions or assignments as directed by the athletic director.
Basketball Coach Responsibilities:
The Women’s Head Basketball Coach shall be responsible for performing the following functions and activities:
- Plan, organize, and conduct practices and athletic training programs that will result in a competitive collegiate basketball program; including graduating student-athletes and providing opportunities for their personal development.
- Maintain and pursue knowledge of current basketball techniques and strategies, as well as planning and implementing practices, game plans, and player development.
- Develop and implement game strategy and position assignments.
- Establish and enforce standards of conduct and behavior for team members.
- Schedule the woman’s basketball season.
- Recruit a full team of players.
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with the Director of Fitness & Athletics and provide services as necessary for faculty, staff, and students.
Minimum Qualifications and Skills Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Must have excellent organizational skills and written communication
- Positive communication strategies, and safety awareness are key requirements
- Experience in working with and/or knowledge of collegians who possess neurodiversity profiles
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Must have some experience coaching basketball
- Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills
- Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, opponents, staff, parents, and students
- Must be able to perform physical tasks Employment is contingent on the applicant passing a full background check
