Since 1972, Orlando Orthopaedic Center has remained independently owned and has grown to include 28 orthopaedic specialists across multiple subspecialties, many of whom are recognized leaders amongst their peers nationwide.
The team at Orlando Orthopaedic Center delivers cost-effective, comprehensive coordinated patient care throughout Central Florida and beyond.
We have seven Orlando Orthopaedic Center locations throughout Central Florida, plus a state-of-the-art outpatient surgery center at the heart of our downtown campus located in the trendy SoDo Shopping District just south of downtown Orlando. To provide more immediate care, we have opened several orthopaedic injury walk-in clinics located throughout Orlando and the surrounding communities.
JOB SUMMARY: Applicant must have in depth knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology and the ability to fit many types of Orthopaedic braces and devices. They should have the ability to verify patient DME benefits with all commercial insurance carriers for high end DME and obtain authorization from Worker’s
Compensation and commercial insurance carriers.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training or related field
- NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainer
- Florida License in Athletic Training
- CPR/AED certified
- NPI number
- Valid Florida driver’s license
- Must pass level 2 finger printing process
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- 1 to 3 years work experience as an Athletic Trainer
- Basic computer skills utilizing Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of practice management and electronic health record software
- Ability to perform multiple and diverse tasks simultaneously
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent customer service a must
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following
Clinical Responsibilities
- Fit patients with a wide variety of Orthopaedic braces and devices
- Maintain communication among the Physicians, Clinical Resource Manager and Lead, A/R department, Physician Teams, and patient at all times
- Drive to all Orlando Orthopaedic Center locations as dictated by DME work schedule
- Work in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Create and demonstrate a Home Exercise Program for patient’s based on Orthopaedic injuries/Orthopaedic surgeries
- Verify DME benefits for all commercial insurance carriers pertaining to high end DME and or obtain authorization from Worker’s Compensation carriers for high end DME
- Maintain patient confidentiality; complies with HIPAA and compliance guidelines established by the practice
- Contact patient to pick-up surgery DME as directed by the Clinical Resource Manager and Lead
- Return patient telephone calls; ensure action taken is document appropriately in the patient chart
- Process electronic health record system messages and tasks with in 4 hours of receipt
- Track all DME items ordered and dispensed daily for respective OOC clinic location as directed by the Clinical Resource Manager and Lead
- Complete patients Proof of Delivery and or ABN with the appropriate billing codes and associated charges
- Obtain patient signature on Proof of Delivery and ABN acknowledging receipt or decline of DME product
- Assist Clinical Resource Manager and Lead with semi-annual DME inventory for all OOC locations
- Assist Branch Managers during DME down time with clinic duties as needed
General Administration
- Maintain detailed knowledge of practice management, electronic health record and other computer software as it relates to job functions
- Attend continuing education courses as requested
- Complete all other duties assigned by the Clinical Resource Manager, Clinical Resource Lead and Branch Managers
- Work hours coincide with Orlando Orthopaedic Center’s clinical operating hours

Typical Physical Demands
Work requires the ability to lift, up to 40 pounds occasionally with frequent lifting between 5-10 pounds. Work requires the ability to sit, stoop, crouch and kneel as needed during job responsibilities. Position requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, operate a computer, telephone, calculator, copier, and such other office equipment as necessary. Position also requires viewing computer screens and typing for long periods of time and working in an environment which may be stressful. Position could require occasional travel.
