About the team and position

Carvana is looking for an attorney with 5-10 years of experience to join its Labor & Employment Team as Corporate Counsel.


What you'll be doing

The Corporate Counsel, Labor and Employment position will provide advice, counsel, and strategic guidance to our People Operations Team on a broad range of employment issues across multiple jurisdictions and prepare responses to local, state, and federal administrative charges. The position will collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and mitigate risk and will also work on employment law related projects, including policy and process review and development.


What you should know/have

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • 5+ Years of legal practice experience.
  • Preferred candidates including 1-3 years experience in one or more of the following:
    • In-House Counsel
    • Litigation Management
    • Employee Benefits
    • Traditional Labor Law
  • Membership in good standing with a United States State Bar.
  • Working knowledge of a broad array of laws and regulations applicable to the employment function, on the federal, state, and local level, including Title VII, ADEA, OWBPA, ADA, FMLA, ERISA, FLSA, NLRA.
  • Client-oriented, approachable, responsive, and engaging proactive customer service approach to the role.
  • Ability to handle multiple, high-level complex projects and high volumes of work on an ongoing basis, with strong attention to detail.
  • Exercise of sound judgment and the highest degree of integrity and ethical standards.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to make formal presentations/training and to provide engaging, clear, communication of legal concepts to non-lawyers.
  • Ability to function independently with limited guidance.
