Audio Video/ Desktop Technician
3 Month/Contract-to-Hire
Rio Rancho, NM

Position Details:

• Hourly position based upon experience & skill level
• Contract position with possible contract extension or hire
• Standard work hours:Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm (On call every 3 weeks; runs Mon-Mon for after hours support.)
• Location: Customer Site - Rio Rancho, NM 87124

Primary Roles & Responsibilities:
50% audio visual; 50% desktop support

• Proven experience as datacenter technician or relevant position
• Proven experience as audio video technician supporting AV systems.
• Update customers and other stakeholders regularly on ongoing service requests
• Escalate and manage tickets to assure timely resolution
• Ability to meet service level agreement requirements during the ticket life cycle
• Utilize a Service Desk ticketing system to document work, progress, and resolutions
• Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills are required, as the role requires identifying and resolving a variety of issues
• Decommission hardware for changes and refreshes when applicable
• Participate in safety walks and audits of communication rooms
• Outstanding diagnostic, problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
• Good knowledge of LAN/WAN networks, TCP/IP protocols and network technologies
• Troubleshoot networking, routing and inter connectivity issues, including troubleshooting of network device configuration
• Review, design, and implement solutions for our customers to meet their requirements
• On-call status when needed for afterhours troubleshooting and network incidents
• Complete network equipment installation, maintenance, and configuration activities
• Participate in meetings and represent the company with customers, vendors and provide input on various initiatives
• Keep updated on emerging technologies and standard business practices

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Must be proficient in utilizing technical tools such as cable, and fiber testers
• Requires experience in working in end user environments, server rooms and communications closets
• Must have a good understanding of M.S. Windows, and M.S. Office Suite applications
• Must be able to perform rack and stack activities with a knowledge of data communications networking
• Must understand cable patching processes and procedures
• Must be able to assist in troubleshooting issues and understand network terminology
• Must be able to safely lift heavy objects
• Must be able to crawl under desks and work in tight spaces
• Strong customer services skills & work ethic
• Highly efficient at prioritizing
• Team player
• Must be willing to work shift work which could include nights and weekends

Education / Experience Requirements

• Education:High School/GED (Required)

Associates Degree major in related field (Preferred)

• Minimum 5 years experience in data communications (Combinations of education and experience will be considered)

Required:Basic knowledge of IP networking

Preferred:CompTIA “A+” or “Net+” Certification
Basic knowledge of Cisco switches and routers
Basic knowledge of local and wide area networking
An understanding of IP phone technology
Ticket and queue management within ServiceNow

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $25.00 per hour
