Position Title: Audiologist

JOB SUMMARY: The audiologist provides

services for the prevention, identification, diagnosis, consultation, and rehabilitation of

patients with hearing and balance disorders.

SPECIAL CHARACTERISTICS: This position requires a self-driven,

community-focused audiologist with a strong dispensing background.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Clinical Duties:
1. Obtains case history information pertinent to audiology services

2. Provide diagnostic hearing evaluations to adult and pediatric populations

3. Interprets past and present audiological results

4. Makes appropriate recommendations and determines the need for treatment

5. Earmold impressions

6. Knowledge of assistive listening devices and recreational accessories

7. Hearing aid evaluations, fittings, programming, follow up and repairs

8. Pure tone and speech testing

9. Tympanometry and acoustic reflex testing

10. OAE’s (otoacoustic emissions)

11. Conditioned play audiometry

12. Visual reinforcement audiometry

13. Counsel patients and their families on ways to listen and communicate

14. Perform all services and duties in a manner consistent with practice policies and

procedures, and assisting with clinic organization and efficient operations.

Office Duties:
1. Maintain all clinical records and charts as specified by practice management.

2. Participate in community outreach and schedule/attend lunch and learns

3. Attend morning staff Zoom and weekly department meeting

4. Submit end of week reports to supervisors

5. Maintain inventory of new hearing aids/repairs

6. Responsible for ordering necessary audiology/hearing aid supplies

7. Answering phones and checking voicemails

8. Cleaning of test equipment and work areas

9. Schedule follow up appointments as needed for best patient practices

SUPERVISES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION: Minimum education required is a Master’s degree in Audiology and a

doctoral degree (Au.D.) is preferred and must be eligible for State licensure.

EXPERIENCE: 2-3 years of job-related experience preferred; Athena EMR and Sycle

software experience are preferred.

SKILLS:
1. Knowledge of medical terminology

2. Excellent written and communication skills

3. Excellent bedside manner

4. Requires proficiency in working with a PC, the Internet, and MS Windows, Sycle,

and EMR (Athena)

5. Requires a good understanding of the current Medicare Compliance, OSHA, and

HIPAA regulations.

6. Detailed personality with excellent record keeping skills

7. Follow good safety and infection control protocols

ABILITIES:
1. Ability to establish/maintain cooperative working relationships with staff and

providers

2. Ability to communicate effectively and in a professional manner with patients

using interpersonal skills

3. Ability to show compassion and patience to make a patient feel comfortable

4. Ability to prioritize and multitask

5. Ability to maintain a professional appearance

6. Professional duty to advocate for the rights of individuals who need audiological

services, participate in interprofessional teaming, and promote the value of

audiology services

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:
1. Combination of sitting, standing, bending, light lifting, and walking.

2. Requires a full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and

hand-eye coordination.

3. Requires the ability to manage stressful situations.

4. Occasional stress from varying demands.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
1. Restriction of personal phone use to break and lunch periods

2. Marketing and promoting audiology and hearing aid services

3. Attendance at weekly department meeting

4. Attendance at daily morning huddle

5. Attendance at training sessions

6. Adherence to the company dress code policy

7. Adherence to practice policies, procedures, and protocol
