This is a Full-Time 40 Hour Weekly position with the Bureau of Administration. For more information on the Bureau of Administration, please visit https://boa.sd.gov/.

The candidate will process incoming and outgoing mail with the use of automated postal machines to ensure mail is sent to the proper destination. The successful candidate will operate a mail delivery van to pick up and delivery mail at different stops daily. Work with other staff to meet daily mailing deadlines.

Incumbent must be able to get in and out of vehicles repeatedly and work in all types of weather.

Licenses and Certifications:

Incumbent must have a valid South Dakota Driver’s License.

The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, be able to communicate with customers and get along with coworkers. Must be able to work in a group setting and have the ability to work alone to accomplish daily tasks.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • English grammar, spelling, and punctuation;
  • arithmetic to add, subtract, multiply, and divide;
  • numeric, alphabetical, and chronological sequences;
  • computer operation and software use;
  • understand and apply written instructions;
  • communicate information clearly and concisely;
  • sort mail numerically, alphabetically, and chronologically;
  • lift approximately 50 pounds repeatedly; and
  • interpret and follow United States Postal Services regulations and provide information to the public about United States Postal Services regulations content.

This position is eligible for Veterans’ Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
