Automotive Picker
Top 3 -5 Job Duties:

- Driving – This is a plus and not required for standard warehouse orders.

- Attitude, will power and want to are everything in this department. Candidates can be trained. The above listed traits cannot be trained.
Overall Job Duties:
Alan Vigil founded his Ford dealership in 1982. He was a first lieutenant in the Army from 1967 to 1970, he served in Vietnam and was awarded a Bronze Star and an Army Commendation Medal for his actions. In 1971 he took a position with ford as a field manager. To this day he is still the President and owner of this dealership. There are over 200 employees working at this location. The facility is massive with huge showrooms, a massive service center and its own parts warehouse located on the property. The parts warehouse services several states. They carry over 26,000 sku’s. The stock over 5 million dollars in inventory. The handle 400-500 invoices per day resulting in restocking 2.5 million dollars of inventory every month. This is an extremely fast paced environment. There is virtually no “slack time.” Employees are treated very well here. The standards are quite high regarding performance. Individuals working in the parts department are pulling 25-30 parts per hour. It generally takes 3-4 weeks to start hitting that mark. Stockers (who put new parts into inventory) use RF Scanners. Pickers are using paper pick tickets. They need to be able to read and have good vision. The work is physical. There are two floors in the warehouse. Freight elevators are available to avoid using the stairs when working. It can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter. The warehouse has 4 positions that most candidates will be cross trained on. These positions are shipping and receiving, stocking and put a way, claims returns (they deal with miss shipped or damaged parts), dispatch and drivers. Dispatchers and drivers are also standalone positions.
Skills and Attributes:
- Candidates with past automotive or warehouse experience are a plus.
- Individuals who have worked with RF Scanners are a plus.
- Career minded people is what is desired.
- Candidates who have worked in fast paced environments and under a quota for performance have done well here.
- Military Veterans have done well here.
- Great attention to detail is mandatory. The part numbers tell the picker everything. They must really pay attention to avoid mistakes.
- Must have the physical ability to pick up parts weighing up to 60 pounds and keep a steady pace throughout the day.
- Candidates should be methodical in their thinking. Mistakes ae very costly. Management would rather have a picker move slower and make fewer mistakes. Speed comes over time.
- The part #’s are alpha-numeric. Numbers give locations letters and other numbers provide specific part information. It takes 3-4 weeks to start to get a handle on this.
Software Skills Required:
- Past RF Scanner experience is a plus but is not mandatory.

Learning the part #’s and locations! 26,000 sku’s!
- Being open to learning and understanding that repetition is a great teacher here.
- The hot and the cold of the warehouse.
- Handling the steady pace. Outside of your breaks and lunch you will be working. There is very little slack time here.

- The Hours are Monday – Friday from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm or finish

Salary:
The pay rate for this position is $13.00 per hour based on experience.
