General Purpose:

Bartenders at Ballyhoo, make drinks to order, and either serves them directly to customers or through the wait staff. In addition to serving and mixing drinks, bartenders may also be responsible for managing the inventory at the bar and ordering more alcohol or other supplies when inventory is running low.

Essential Duties:

• Takes orders from customers or Bar Waiter/Waitress.
• Mixes ingredients such as liquor, soda, water, sugar, and bitters to prepare cocktails and other drinks.
• Serves wine, draft or bottled beer as well as coffee.
• Collects money for drinks served.
• Orders liquors and supplies.
• Arranges bottles and glasses to make attractive display.
• Slices and pits fruit for garnishing drinks.
• Serves food as requested by customers.
• Replenishes bar snacks such as chips and pretzels.
• Serves drinks in a manner which is constant with all Florida Beverage Laws.
• Continues to up-sell drinks and liquors to customers.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Basic Required Skills:

• Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
• Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
• Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• May be required: to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands:

• Most work tasks are performed primarily outdoors in the natural environment.
• Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for at least 5+ hours in length.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill tasks.
• Must be able to exert a well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.
• Must be able to lift items weighing up to 50-100 lbs. as needed on a daily basis.
• Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, and hearing ability, and visual acuity.
• Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors, and other employees.
• Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
• Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
