Behavioral Health Technician 3nd Shift
Job description
The purpose of this position is to assist in providing a safe environment for individuals while patients are in treatment. The BHT assists in the intake process, transportation needs, answers patient questions, and assists patient in adjusting to the program routine. The BHT is the liaison between the patient and the clinical and medical department to report any changes in the patient's physical or mental condition. The BHT is responsible for supervising patients in the program with emphasis on patient safety and wellbeing.
1. THE NUMBER ONE RESPONSIBILITY IS TO KEEP PATIENTS SAFE AT ALL TIMES!
2. Observe and report Patient behaviors to the clinical and medical department.
3. Establish and maintain healthy relationships with the patients.
4. Redirect patients as needed, under the supervisor’s direction, NEVER DISCIPLINE.
5. Assist with the admission process on new patient admissions and orientation procedures and schedules.
6. Record Inventory log of all personal belongings, valuables, and return ticket. Ticket and valuables to be kept in the safe.
7. Ensure staff is aware that a patient admitted and was signed in VIA admit alert emails. Maintain constant and clear communication during a patient admit.
8. Complete a timely and accurate shift report at the end of each shift.
9. Transport patients as needed, including, but not limited to, outside meetings, appointments, shopping, outings, and to and from treatment.
10. Conduct searches of patients’ belongings and properties at any time during the patients’ treatment episode.
11. Facilitate all orientation groups or meetings with patients.
12. De-escalate and assist with patients leaving treatment AMA/ACA and other patient problems.
13. Know how many patients are on property and where they are at all times by completing que checks.
14. Monitor family visits to ensure patient safety.
15. Assist the kitchen staff serve meals, when needed. Never use any kitchen equipment, at any time. (if applies)
16. Supervision of UAs and BAC – includes proper documentation in the EHR.
17. Ensure shift checklists are complete prior to shift ending.
18. Assist the medical department to monitor the patients during “medication pass” times. (if applies)
19. Keep all properties and office spaces cleaned. During downtime, ensure the general areas are free of objects and clutter.
20. Provides supervision of meals, including supervision of servers and cleanup crew after each meal. Ensure that garbage is disposed of properly after each meal. (if applies)
21. Monitor group room to ensure cleanliness after each activity.
22. Assist the medical team by taking patient vitals and scores. (if applies)
23. Ensure all properties are maintain and cleaned at all times.
24. Assist Executive Staff if tasks are delegated.
25. Participate in all staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
26. Always maintain professional demeanor.
27. Exercise sound professional judgment and seek assistance as necessary to effectively manage patients.
28. Must be available to work on weekends, nights, and holidays. Must be available to work overtime when needed.
29. Protect the privacy of all patient information in accordance with the organization’s privacy policies, procedures and practices, as required by federal and state law, and in accordance with general principle of professionalism as a health care provider. Failure to comply with the organization’s policies and procedures on patient privacy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
30. May access protected health information (PHI) and other patent information only to the extent that is necessary to complete your job duties. The incumbent may only share such information with those who have a need to know specific patient information you have in your possession to complete their job responsibilities related to treatment, payment or other company operations.
31. Expected to report, without the threat of retaliation, any concerns regarding company policies and procedures on patient privacy and any observed practices in violation of the policy to their supervisor.
