Being part of the Munich Re Group enables an inclusive culture that is progressive and ambitious with an established employee benefits program.Purpose of the PositionThe purpose of this position is to be the primary owner and lead underwriter of assigned coverholder and ensure profitability and growth.Responsibilities
  • Primary owner for profitability and growth of assigned coverholder delegated authority contracts and relationships.
  • Monitor and adjust assigned contract aggregate usage, in coordination with London teammates.
  • Lead underwriter for assigned coverholders on risk referrals outside contract authority or appetite.
  • Participate and lead underwriting reviews throughout the year, as well as development and monitoring of progress in underwriting reviews.
  • Participate in pursuit and on-boarding of new contracts and relationships.
  • Lead role in annual planning for assigned coverholders and contracts.
  • Participate in the review and revision of underwriting appetite and coverholder contracts.
  • Coordination and communication with Claim and IT as needed for specific coverholder needs.
  • Coordination and communication with In-House facilities and Lloyd’s market facilities as appropriate.
  • Work with Munich Engine team to coordinate appetite, aggregate, and integration of products

Your profile

Key Skills and Experience
  • 10+ years as P/C Insurance Underwriter, Underwriting Management or the equivalent experience.
  • Surplus Lines Experience required.
  • Existing relationships with WSIA Members preferred.
  • Property/Personal Lines/Casualty small account business experience.
  • Insurance Coverage/Form competency – ISO mandatory, Lloyds and Manuscript a plus.
  • Ability to review/audit policies-underwriting files and management of those who do.
  • Ability to interact closely with IT/Accounting/ Claims Departments.
  • Ability to research and resolve technical insurance and system issues.
  • Ability to communicate and negotiate clearly with coverholders to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Computer Proficiency in Outlook/Word/Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Independent/Self Starter.
  • Organizational/Office Skills.
  • Insurance Designation(s) and/or Agent License a plus.
  • Insurance Licensing/Regulatory experience a plus.
  • Travel for customer underwriting review and marketing visits and conventions (25-50%).
