A Brattleboro, VT area paper manufacturer is in immediate need of a Boiler Operator to join their first shift team. This position is offering a starting wage of $30 – $35/hour depending on prior experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safety by monitoring safety equipment, identifying potential issues and taking appropriate steps to suspend operations and repair the problem.
  • Ensure optimal and continuous operation of mechanical systems by performing routine inspections and maintenance, monitoring metering equipment and adjusting levels as necessary.
  • Maintain systems by scheduling regular inspections, cleanings, filter replacement and all other tasks necessary to keep all components performing optimally; identify and repair or replace malfunctioning components.
  • Perform necessary repairs and replacements, obtain replacement parts and upgrade components as needed while staying within the budget.
  • Study and maintain to keep current on knowledge of all applicable safety laws and regulations in order to ensure full compliance at all times, maintain certifications.
  • Create and enter properly documented records of inspections, maintenance routines and repairs.
  • Sustain up-to-date knowledge of developments in relevant technology and make recommendations for overhauls and upgrades.
  • Provide department leadership as the lead operator for the Utility department.
  • Specific knowledge of high-pressure boiler operations, high pressure steam, boiler controls, and condensation systems

Position Requirements:

  • Blue Seal Certification required or Greater.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Able to read, write and speak English as required for the job.
  • Previous experience with boiler controls, high pressure boiler operations and high-pressure steam
  • Experience leading a team, preferably in a maintenance environment
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of developments in relevant technology to make suggestions when needed on how to keep competitive in our processes.
  • Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Able to understand, write and carry out oral and written instructions and safety precautions.
  • The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
  • The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.

Hours: Monday – Friday 7:00am – 3:30pm
