Bookkeeper

We currently have a position available within our corporate tax department for a suitably qualified tax technician who will work predominantly within the Research and Development (“R&D”) Tax Credit group. This position would provide the successful candidate with an opportunity to work with some of the most technically innovative companies in Ireland in helping to maximise the tax incentives that they may be able to claim.
The successful candidate will be primarily tasked with assisting in the compilation of financial information for R&D Tax Credit and Knowledge Development Box (“KDB”) claims. This will include engaging with clients to ascertain the potentially eligible items of expenditure for the purposes of the R&D Tax Credit and KDB Regimes. This position will further provide an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to develop an understanding of the impact of various Government innovation incentives on businesses.

Key Responsibilities
- The examination of client operations and processes to determine costs which qualify for tax incentives, developing the appropriate methodology to be applied to such costs and the methods to maximise those incentives.
- The planning, organisation and execution of the financial portion of engagements, including meetings / discussions with claimants financial personnel.
- The preparation of all necessary financial documentation as required by legislation and Revenue Guidelines.
- Working with the client to help them develop their systems and know-how to assist in making future claims.
- Client assistance in certain discussions / audits that may arise with the Revenue Commissioners.
- Assistance with the management of the compliance requirements within the wider corporate tax client portfolio.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- Tax Technician or 3rd Level Degree in Finance.
- Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in a busy company environment.
- Previous experience within a tax or accounting firm preferred but not essential.
- Knowledge of the R&D Tax Credit and KDB regimes would be useful but is not essential.
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and listening).
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
- Advanced skills in MS Office environment (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook).
- Conscientious about deadlines with excellent organisational ability.
