Job title: Bookkeeper/Office Manager
Small Construction Company in the North Metro is looking for an AP/AR specialist on a full-time basis.
This position will be responsible for AP/AR to start and will expand with time. Primary responsibilities will include general bookkeeping, answering phones, weighing trucks and some data entry. However, with only a few people in the office (and 20+ in the field), we’ll be looking for someone who has the skill to and enjoys wearing many hats.
The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, be a self-starter and have previous experience working in construction. We are expanding our office to be able to be able to get more data to make decisions. Our ideal candidate would not only be able to compile data but help us make sense of it. The candidate must have good working knowledge of accounting software (Acumatica a plus) and be proficient in Microsoft products, especially Excel.
As a small business, we are only looking for candidates who are interested in long term employment. After a trial period we offer medical and 401k. We are looking for someone to start ASAP, pending interview and background check.

Bookkeeper/office Administrator:
Primary job duties include maintaining the books for the business. Entering and reconciling AP, Payroll, Vendor maintenance, Office administration, and month end closing.
Starting role (basic)
AR/AP
- Check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes.
- Receive, record, and bank cash, checks, and vouchers.
- Code documents according to company procedures.
- Match order forms with invoices and record the necessary information.
- Prepare bank deposits by compiling data from cashiers, verifying and balancing receipts, and sending cash, checks, or other forms of payment to banks.
- Create and invoice material sales, T&M jobs, non-contract Accounts receivable.
Payroll
- Prepare and process payroll information.
- Compare computer printouts to manually maintained journals to determine if they match.
- Complete and submit tax forms and returns, workers' compensation forms, pension contribution forms, and other government documents.
- Compile and prepare reports and documents pertaining to personnel activities.
- Coordinate and Manage DOT drug testing policy, New hire paperwork and compliance forms
Month End
- Reconcile bank accounts, Credit Card accounts, Credit card sales statements
- Month End depreciation reconciliation
- Fuel Usage and inventory balancing
- Calculate costs of materials, overhead and other expenses, based on estimates, quotations, and price lists.
General
- Perform general office duties such as filing, answering telephones, and handling routine correspondence.
- Support scale operation and sale of materials, Customer Interface
- Other Duties as assigned
Future role (advanced)
- Prepare trial balances of books.
- Reconcile all accounts and close accounts for month end
- Produce, and monitor annual budget for each department
- Calculate, prepare, and issue bills, invoices, account statements, and other financial statements according to established procedures.
- Monitor and balance loans per amortization schedules
Critical to success:
- Expertise in basic accounting and bookkeeping practices including
- AP/AR,
- Acct reconciliation
- Standard accounting process rigors
- Attention to detail/accuracy
- High degree of accountability
Skills to enhance success:
- High end Excel and/or database skills
- Marketing/advertising experience
- Office 365 and SharePoint knowledge
- Acumatica software knowledge or other construction specific software
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $35.00 per hour
