You'll be representing Air France-KLM in the United States and working closely together with Delta Airlines.
Job Role:
The Brand Marketing Specialist services the Air France and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines brands throughout the USA. The focus is on building brand awareness and consideration in line with both brands’ purpose, positioning, and personality, within the context of the American market.
Organizational Context:
Based in NYC, this role sits alongside various other USA Brand & Marketing positions, including Loyalty Marketing Specialist, Partnerships-Sponsorships-Events Specialist, and Brand Design Specialist. The Brand Marketing Specialist reports to the USA’s Brand & Marketing Director, who in turn reports to the North American Commercial Director.
Works closely with: AF-KL US: Direct Sales / Digital Marketing, Sales Development, and Finance/Accounting. Also with external agencies, vendors, and fulfillment houses
Key Responsibilities:
Brand Visibility (20%)
Work with the Brand & Marketing Director to build and track annual U.S. brand visibility plans for Air France and KLM. This includes…
- Objectives
- Strategies
- Budgeting
- Timing / sequencing (i.e., annual calendar)
- Tracking study
- ROI
Advertising Creative & Media (40%)
- Liaise with our Marketing colleagues and agencies in Paris (Air France) and Amsterdam (KLM) for paid media plans and creative developed at the global level. Aspects include objectives, strategies, messaging, timing / sequencing, budgets, and billing / invoices / payments / credits. Execution is heavily weighted toward digital media vehicles (online video, social media, etc.) but also includes print and out-of-home.
- For paid media plans and creative developed at the local U.S. level, work with our local NY-based media services agencies and our in-house Brand Design Specialist. Aspects of this include objectives, strategies, messaging, timing / sequencing, budgets, and billing / invoices / payments / credits. Execution is heavily weighted toward print, out-of-home, and radio.
Branded Merchandise / Items (20%)
Develop and manage our annual plan for branded merchandise / items for Air France and KLM. This includes:
- Identify what is needed / desired / affordable for the year, working in conjunction with other teams within the Commercial department (i.e., Sales Development, Direct Sales / Digital Marketing, Communications)
- Evaluate existing vendors and identify new vendors who can help us ‘up our game’ in branded merchandise / items
- Plan and budget merchandise / item quantities
- Review and approve cost estimates
- Work with our Finance / Accounting department on billing / invoices / payments / credits
- Work with the company’s Brand Design Specialist on creative (concept, colors, type, layout, etc.) for the merchandise / items
- Review and approve prototypes
- Manage, control, order, and ship inventory as needed. E.g., to NYC office, to airports stations, to Sales Development team members, to off-site fulfilment center (All Fulfillment Direct), etc.
Miscellaneous Marketing & Creative Support (20%)
- Work with the company’s Partnerships-Sponsorships-Events Specialist and Brand Design Specialist on the development and execution of branded creative for sponsorships. For example, logo placements, boilerplate statements, etc.
- Work with the company’s Partnerships-Sponsorships-Events Specialist and Brand Design Specialist on the development and execution of branded creative for events. For example, banners, signs, eMail newsletters, collateral material, etc. (Note: Implementation of this creative at the brands’ events is the responsibility of the Partnerships-Sponsorships-Events Specialist.)
- Work with the company’s Sales Development team and Brand Design Specialist to ensure that trade marketing communications to Travel Management Companies and Corporations are on-brand.
Job-Requirements: knowledge, learned disciplines, experience
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred: Preferably in a Business major such as Marketing or Management

- 4+ years of post-college experience: Could have previously worked at:
- a manufacturer (e.g., a Consumer Packaged Goods company)
- a services company (e.g., financial services, insurance company, etc.)
- an agency (e.g., advertising, media, direct marketing)
- a travel industry company (e.g., hotels, resorts, airlines, travel agency, etc.)
