THE POSITION

Washington County Finance department is now hiring an innovative and knowledgeable individual to join our team as a Budget Analyst.

In this position, you will support the County's budget development by performing complex budget duties. This includes preparing and administering department and county-wide budgets, monitoring fiscal operations, analyzing financial data to identify discrepancies or trends, forecasting cash flows, calculating costs, and developing budgetary resources. The Budget Analyst works closely with County departments to ensure they have the tools and information needed to successfully participate in budget planning and monitoring.

The ideal candidate has an understanding of Oregon budget law, and are able to Interpret and apply Federal, State, and local policies, procedures, laws, and regulations. They will exercise good judgment in responding to and resolving complex issues and can establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with individuals and groups who come from diverse backgrounds and represent members of the public, coworkers, and vendors. The Budget Office is a fast-paced environment, and the individual in this role must have exceptional time management skills and attention to detail.

A hybrid work schedule allowing remote work 1-2 days per week can be considered.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, or a related field; AND three (3) years of progressively responsible professional experience in budgeting, financial analysis, or auditing.

Additional Requirements:
  • Must pass a comprehensive background check and credit check.

Selection Process:

  • Minimum Qualification Review: Human Resources will screen applications for MQs beginning the week after the posting closes.
  • Subject Matter Expert Review: Your responses to the supplemental questions will be evaluated and scored by a panel of subject matter experts.
  • Panel Interview(s): The top 6 – 8 candidates will be invited to participate in a panel interview.
  • Conditional Offer: Human Resources will extend a conditional offer to our top candidate. Successful completion of the following is required to be appointed to the position.
    • Background Check including a Credit Check
  • Start Date: A start date will be determined after all conditions of employment have been met.

Management, Administrative and Professional Personnel System (MAPPS) - FLSA exempt employees are paid on a salaried basis. The premise of salaried/exempt employment is that established compensation recognizes the time and effort needed to accomplish all assigned job duties. Job responsibilities may require work outside of the employee's standard work week or a work week in excess of 40 hours.

This position is not represented under a collective bargaining agreement.

Regular and limited duration full-time employees working 30 hours or more per week and job share employees are eligible for benefits beginning on the first of the month following employment. Job share employees are responsible for 50% of the premium. Part-time regular, variable hour, and temporary positions are not eligible for medical, dental, and vision benefits.
