The Town of South Kingstown is seeking applicants for the position of Building Maintenance Technician. The Building Maintenance Technician will work under the direction of the Facilities Superintendent and is responsible for performing a variety of skilled and unskilled tasks involving manual work in the cleaning and maintenance in all Town buildings.
Responsibilities include basic custodial duties including sweeping, dusting, vacuuming floors, carpets and furniture, cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, washing windows and walls, emptying garbage and recycling receptacles, and performing minor semi-skilled interior building maintenance and repairs which may involve painting, floor covering, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical and other unskilled and semi-skilled trades work.
This position will work a schedule of 7am to 3:30pm Monday through Friday and will adjust seasonally to 6am to 2:30pm. To qualify, candidates must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent and one year of experience in the maintenance and care of buildings or, an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates must have a valid drivers license. This position requires successful completion of a background check and physical. The starting salary for this, NEA local SKMEA position is $19.59 per hour and upon successful completion of a six month probation period, increases to $20.24 per hour.
