Stellar is seeking to hire a Business Analyst to work as part of our Enterprise Projects team as the primary liaison between Information Services and business partners. You would be responsible for ensuring the requirements identified for a business solution are comprehensive, aligned with the actual needs of the business, and successfully delivered. Additionally, this role will perform project management and business analysis, create test scripts, and facilitate testing both unit and user acceptance. You may perform project tasks to drive measurable improvements. Some travel may be required as needed to support initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Explore, identify, and document business requirements (exposing root cause) focusing on understanding and prioritizing business dependencies
- Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, assemble low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs
- Develop functional requirements based on the gathered business requirements
- Participate in technical design to ensure requirements are met
- Maintain proficient working knowledge of use case writing and other requirement analysis techniques
- Perform testing and facilitate user-acceptance testing of systems
- Develop training materials in support of systems
- Evaluate application software packages for alignment with business needs
- Recognize and articulate business and technical decision trade-offs
- Develop and maintain a general understanding of business functions and processes as needed to support requirement sessions
- Facilitate, capture, and design sessions with business teams and/or conduct interview-style meetings with subject matter experts to validate and document policy, inputs, outputs, activities, exceptions, and workflows
- Work with the business partners to identify opportunities to improve productivity or efficiency in business processes and define requirements with the business to create solutions to achieve those improvements
- Maintain proficient knowledge and adhere to project management and software delivery methodologies
- Serve as subject matter expert on projects and related applications
- Participate in key IT projects and serve as project manager as assigned
- Ensure required project documentation is current and accurate including but not limited to as-is and to-be business process documents, business requirements, functional requirements, communication plans, training plans, test plans, scenarios and scripts, organizational change management plans, and operational support plans
- Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously
- BS/BA degree in Business, Information Technology, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
- 2+ years of business or consulting experience in business analysis, project management, process improvement/re-engineering, or related experience
- Experience with requirements gathering for technical solutions, requirements analysis, or business process re-engineering
- Knowledge of BPMN preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as facilitation and collaboration skills
- Independent self-starter with excellent time management skills and must be able to consistently meet deadlines
- Good negotiation, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to listen/capture complex information, prioritize and interpret the appropriate level of granularity for documentation
