The Business Development Specialist acts as a liaison between Horizon’s clinical team, Horizon’s administration team and Horizon’s clients. We need someone who knows how to build bridges and maintain a positive relationship within the guidelines of our service agreements. The Business Development Specialist role is a full-time, Monday-Friday 8AM-4:30PM position.

Horizon Laboratory is committed to providing convenient, high-quality out-patient laboratory services at several locations in Loveland and Greeley, Colorado with plans to expand these locations. Our highly trained staff consists of more than 140 laboratory personnel including business associates, medical technologists, phlebotomists, and lab assistants dedicated to providing timely information essential to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease. Horizon Laboratory is a licensed Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments facility.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for activities related to profitable sales and business growth through the identification and contact of customers, cultivation of potential and existing referral sources, tracking of daily sales and outreach activities, and working collaboratively with appropriate internal stakeholders to address issues that may be identified via sales and business development processes.

CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Seeks opportunities to increase the growth of business with the assigned markets and takes appropriate action. Identifies potential referral sources and appropriately cultivates them. Maintains effective relationships with existing customers. Meets sales and business development goals.

2. Records daily sales activities, creates schedules and provides comprehensive updates on prospects and their movement through the sales process. Monitors/analyzes results versus plan by evaluating weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly revenue, margin and quota attainment. Ensures accurate reporting of all business sales.

3. Maintains on-going relationship(s) with providers, employers and consumers for the purpose of resolving any and all problems identified during the sales call process and to develop and maintain product knowledge. Represents the company and the program(s) in a positive and professional manner.

4. Identifies, supports and participates in appropriate community activities, including health fairs, public speaking, health promotion clinics and other activities, for the purpose of alignment, engagement and revenue growth.

5. Identifies issues and opportunities for improvement and reports to the account executive and/or business development senior leadership. Works with managers and directors to resolve any and all problems identified during the sales call process. Actively seeks and obtains any related information from referral sources. Functions as a liaison between the organization and the customer. Follows up with all customer concerns regarding opportunities to improve.

6. Partners with other departments to develop tools for sales and business building, e.g., brochures/fact sheets, informational packets and fliers. Suggests new opportunities with potential for financial viability. May order promotional material, collaterals and supplies necessary to achieve desired results.

7. This position has assigned geographic and/or program-specific responsibilities and works under limited supervision with responsibility for funds allocated to support assigned sales activities. The position’s customers are internal and external – Internal: Business development leadership and other key stakeholders with assigned territories and program(s); External: providers, provider practices, employer groups, consumers, community-based organizations, and, in general, anyone who uses or needs healthcare and health-related services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge skills and abilities as normally obtained by the completion of a BA/BS degree in a related field.

This position requires the skills, knowledge and abilities in healthcare services, business development sales and marketing typically acquired over three or more years of related experience

The work requires a high degree of organization, the ability to manage time and resources effectively, and the self-starter ability to work independently to achieve goals.

Effective, conflict management, customer service and interpersonal relations skills are necessary.

The ability to communicate effectively verbally, in writing and through common computer software is required.
