We're looking for a dedicated and talented Business Finance Associate to become part of our Foundation Academies Team!
The Business Finance Associate is a key member of the Business Office, responsible for assisting in the administration of the district's financial business affairs. This position involves administering and managing employee benefit programs for school employees, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee benefits, purchasing, accounts payable and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The Role will also require excellent communication and interpersonal skills, meticulous attention to detail and accuracy, and knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, such as those related to benefits, procurement and data privacy.
Competencies and Responsibilities
Benefits
- Educate school employees about their benefits options and assisting them with enrollment in
benefits programs - Coordinate with benefit providers to ensure that employees receive accurate and timely
information about their benefits - Monitor benefit programs to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
- Oversee NJ state pension enrollment for all staff and submitting mandatory state reporting
- Analyze benefits utilization and costs to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
- Assist with the design and implementation of new benefits programs as needed
Purchasing and Accounts Payable
- Assist in the planning, organization and administration of the District's
procurement and inventory control - Assist in the quote, bid, request for proposal and competitive contracting process
- Process purchase requisitions and invoices
- Assists the School Business Administrator in ensuring that the school follows proper procedures
based on purchasing regulations to include bids, quotes, etc - Prepare and distribute 1099 forms to vendors
- Train staff authorized to make purchases on purchasing procedures
Administrative and Clerical Work
- Complete other required documentation related to staff members' time with FA (employment
verification forms, unemployment claim paperwork, FMLA, FLI etc.) - Updating Employee Handbook annually with the input/feedback of other departments and
leaders - Ensuring Employee Handbook and FA policies align with relevant NJ statutes such as NJ Sick
Leave, etc. - Ensures the prompt and accurate collection of all necessary documentation and maintenance
records and related matters - Performing other duties as assigned by the Business Finance Senior Manager/School Business

Foundation Academy offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience in a similar position with yearly increases. The salary range for this position is $45,000 - $67,000. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and midpoint depending on experience and in alignment with internal equity.
Your schedule will be Monday-Friday from 7:30am-4:15pm.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, such as those related to benefits, New Jersey purchasing requirements and data privacy
- Excellent ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail
- Excellent record of problem solve with minimal direction
- Perform multiple tasks with effective time management
- Ensure sensitive matters are handled with appropriate discretion
- Associate's degree; Bachelor's degree preferred
