Job Summary: Hydro Insurance Department (HID) is seeking an insurance adviser to join our team, an international team of 13 people in Norway, Brazil, UK and US. This full-time position will report directly to the Insurance and Risk Manager in HID. As the adviser will follow up and support several Business Units in the US (Aluminum Metals, Extrusion North America, Building Systems, Precision Tubing, and the holding company), the position will have a dotted reporting line into the Vice President & Head of Legal - North America and work closely with Hydro’s legal and finance team. Depending on the level of experience, the title of the position will be either Business Insurance Adviser or Business Insurance Manager.

Required Education/Experience
:

  • Must have five (5) years senior insurance experience (from e.g., an insurance company, law firm, broker, corporate, etc.)


Preferred Skills/Qualifications
:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills are required, as are the abilities to proactively manage multiple projects, and to take initiative and apply practical common-sense solutions, all in a fast-paced environment that may require quick response times.
  • Strong business judgment, and problem-solving skills are desirable, along with the desire and ability to learn and grow.
  • Good understanding of different types of Liability and Financial Lines insurances (i.e., Third Party, Environmental, D&O, etc.).
  • Knowledge of other lines of insurance an advantage, such as Property Damage and Business Interruption.
  • Ability to foster positive relationships at all levels of the organization and across multiple locations and countries.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Support and contribute HID in the implementation of Hydro’s overall insurance strategy, scope of coverage and the renewal process
  • Administration of the company’s group insurance program for the North American-based units
  • Compilation of underwriting information and coverage placement data
  • Ensure correct management and quality of information in the insurance systems, including premium and invoice review for accuracy, allocation and timeliness
  • Claims management, including formulating, developing, and coordinating all claims-related activities, partnering with Hydro’s business units to resolve claims, and maintaining claims data for proper record-keeping and loss forecasting purposes
  • Identifying and quantifying exposures, recommending solutions, implementing approved insurance programs, and periodic auditing
  • Promoting loss prevention and follow up insurance recommendations, in cooperation with HID Risk Engineers
  • 5-10% travel to North American plant locations, with international travel to one global HID team meeting per year.
