Buyer
Location: Elk Grove, IL
Purpose of Role
Plan, execute, and maintain supplier purchase orders for raw materials, other purchased goods, and services within company system to service multiple plants or facility equipment to meet customer delivery and inventory levels.

• The Buyer will work with key cross-functional stakeholders including engineering, maintenance, operations, information technology to source and execute material order requests while cost saving and managing inventory available (including vendor managed inventory or stock agreements).

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs daily review of raw material requirements, execute PO’s and delivery schedule for suppliers for all plants meeting production schedules. Escalates as needed. Analyzes data to make decisions using LEAN. Analyzes data for reorder points, safety stocks and minimum buys.
• Manages non-inventory or ancillary ordering for equipment or facilities. Including sourcing, multiple RFQ’s and historical usage. Ability to interpret prints, understand different manufacturing types or purchased components.
• Tracks orders, follows up with suppliers. Tracks pricing and inventory trends. Facilitates data for supplier stocking agreements. Responsible for keeping vendor and item information data accurate.
• Manages supplier performance, investigates, and resolves supplier invoices or receipt discrepancies. Supports supply chain projects as directed.

Experience:

• 5-10 years in a procurement role or role having procurement responsibility. Working in a professional office atmosphere.
• Bachelor’s degree in procurement, logistics, business or related fields or equivalent experience.

Requirements:

• Hands-on technology and analytical skills including Excel, Access, and MS Office.
• Experience in SAP or equivalent MRP/ERP system buying, managing inventory, and interpreting demand.
• Excellent communication skills working with cross function departments.
• Able to demonstrate leadership, problem-solving and development of processes.
• Self-sufficient with direction given and strong organizational skills.
• Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
