Summary:

This position is responsible for assisting the Store Manager with all aspects of convenience store operations; however, the Store Manager may also utilize this position for supervising specific departments/areas of the convenience store, e.g. food services, property image/maintenance, administrative support, etc. This is a managerial-level position responsible for supervising team members and assisting with other administrative and human resources functions.


Essential Functions:

  • Assists Store Manager with various human resources functions, including interviewing, hiring, orientation, training, development, motivation, supervision, evaluations, corrective/disciplinary actions, etc.
  • Assists with various accounting and administrative functions, including accounts receivable and payables, preparing and submitting financial and human resources documentation, developing ad hoc reports, etc.
  • Assists with directing workflow and break times, prepares work schedules, and ensures training requirements are satisfied on an initial and ongoing basis.
  • Assists Store Manager with the development and management of the store’s annual operating budget and capital improvement needs.
  • Ensures established work procedures are followed, staff members receive adequate and ongoing training and guidance, and all required paperwork is completed and processed for each work assignment.
  • Works with vendors on inventory and maintenance needs and processes associated paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Manages inventory, orders and stocks supplies, verifies and codes invoices, and assists with the coordination of year-end audits.
  • Assists in the preparation and submission of financial data and information as needed.
  • Monitors store operations, identifies any deficiencies, promptly reports them to the Store Manager, and assists with their resolution.
  • Provides superior customer service and responds to questions and requests in a pleasant, timely, and helpful manner.
  • Addresses customer concerns and/or complaints, seeking timely and amicable resolution; escalates matters to Store Manager when necessary.
  • Assists with monitoring maintenance needs and activities, ensuring buildings (interior and exterior) and surrounding grounds are adequately maintained.
  • Keeps apprised of and ensures compliance with all departmental, company, state and federal laws, policies, procedures and any other applicable rules and regulations.
  • Adheres to, and enforces, all established safety standards, ensuring compliance with company safety policies and procedures, TOSHA and OSHA regulations.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Minimum Qualifications):

  • At least twenty-four (24) months of continuous and satisfactory experience as a Shift Supervisor with Colville Fuels LLC.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience required with the ability to provide training/guidance and perform corrective/disciplinary action when appropriate.
  • Working knowledge of accounting and human resources principles and practices.
  • Must pass a high intermediate mathematics skills test.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Food Handler’s Card during term of employment.
  • Ability to obtain Underground Storage Tank (UST) Class A/B Operator certification within 14 days of hire.
  • Must have good organizational skills with the ability to delegate tasks to staff members.
  • Ability to provide superior customer service on a consistent basis.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers and staff members and defuse potentially confrontational situations when needed.
  • Ability to maintain STRICT confidentiality standards.
  • Ability to work irregular hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, coworkers, superiors, and vendors.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Washington State Driver’s License and be eligible for the company’s insurance coverage.
  • Must successfully clear a thorough background inquiry, including criminal history, previous employment, and reference verification's.


Physical Demands / Work Environment:

  • Manual and finger dexterity as required to perform daily job duties.
  • Ability to frequently walk and/or stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to frequently bend, squat and/or stoop.
  • Ability to frequently reach, climb and/or crawl.
  • Occasionally works near or around electricity.
  • Frequently works near or around moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals primarily used for cleaning purposes.
  • Frequently exposed to a high level of noise in the work environment.
  • Occasionally exposed to smoke, fumes, or airborne particles.
  • Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions, including wide variations in temperature, wind, and precipitation.
