Job description
Work Schedule | 40 hours/week; additional hours as necessary based upon business needs. 1:00 pm - 9:30 pm, Monday - Sunday, weekends required, shifts rotate as needed.
Essential Job Duties | Have you ever thought about a food service career in college dining? The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a cake decorator. Competencies include exceptional piping skills including, but not limited to, borders, filigree, buttercream flowers, rosettes, and royal icing decorations for sugar cookies.
Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:
- Decorate cakes efficiently and with attention to detail
- Produce simple buttercream, Italian buttercream, custards, glazes, curds, and caramel in large batches
- Organize production of iced cakes and cupcakes for dining hall locations, on-line cake program, catering, and retail bakery
- Communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors
- Take inventory of paper goods and communicate with supervisor or purchasing about items that need to be ordered
Preferred Qualifications |
- Possess a Baking and Pastry Arts Degree from an accredited institution, or experience and internship that have created a solid skill set.
- One (1) year experience as a cake decorator in a professional environment.
- Understanding how to make yeast dough, pie and pastry crusts, cake batters of various types, icings and glazes, and a range of custards and fillings.
- Previous work in a high volume environment.
Required License or Certification |
- ServSafe certification or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
- Certification must be maintained as a condition of employment.
