About New Mexico Military Institute: NMMI is a state-supported, co-educational college preparatory high school and junior college, complete with Junior and Senior ROTC programs. With a Corps of Cadets numbering up to 1000 young men and women, NMMI provides an accredited college preparatory curriculum on the high school level.

Position: The Campus Grounds Foreman is a Non-Exempt, 12-month, full–time position. Under the general direction of the Campus Grounds Manager; assists in the construction, maintenance, and repair of New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI) campus grounds, lawns, trees, shrubs, planter beds, irrigation wells, sprinkler systems, parking areas, etc. Also will be required to supervise the Campus Grounds' staff in the absence of the Campus Grounds Manager. The salary range for this position is $35,000 to $39,000. The job description is available upon request.

Tasks:

· Supervises the construction, maintenance, and repair of golf course grounds, lawns, trees, shrubs, planter beds, sports fields, irrigation wells, sprinkler systems, parking areas, secondary roads, and other related facilities; operates and maintains grounds equipment; develops related projects from planning stage to completion

· Performs administrative duties associated with the job

· Other duties as assigned

Essential Skills:

· Knowledge of the principles and practices of grounds maintenance programs.

· Ability to learn and perform all essential job functions accurately and safely with minimum direct supervision.

· Should be well-organized and able to work independently without close supervision.

· Knowledge of the types of soil conditions found on the NMMI campus, the principles and practices of preventive management programs, and the principles, and practices of project planning.

Qualifications:

· High School graduate, or equivalent, or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.

· Six years of experience in the care and maintenance of grounds preferred, no experience required.

· Must be able to work outside in various forms of weather.

· Ability to possess a valid state driver’s license.
