Job Purpose:

To provide a quality cardiology service to the hospital & its outreach clinics. To deputise for the

Cardiac Services Manager as required. Proficiency in echocardiocardiography is essential. The fundamental philosophy guiding this position is to promote and preserve the Bon Secours

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

To deputise for the Cardiac Services Manager when required.

To support the Cardiac Services in the ongoing maintenance and development of the cardiology service.

The Chief 1 Cardiac Physiologist will perform all the duties of a Senior Cardiac Physiologist post holder, & must be proficient in Echocardiography, cardiac pacing & cath-lab.

To comply with Health and Safety Regulations, ensuring safe working practices and a safe working environment.

To undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required.

Person Specification:

Qualifications

Essential - Possess the B.Sc. in Clinical Measurement Science, Certificate in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement or equivalent.

Be an associate of the Society of Cardiological Science and Technology

Desirable

Echocardiography accreditation, e.g. BSE, ARDMS, EACVI.

Cardiac pacing accreditation, e.g. IBHRE, EHRA, BHRS.

Experience:

Essential - At least 5 years post-grad experience in working as a physiologist in a cardiology department.

At least 2 of these years experience at senior level.

Skills:

Essential -Resting ECG,

Exercise treadmill testing,

Fit and analyse ambulatory holter and BP monitors,

Pacemaker, loop-recorder and ICD/CRT follow-up,

Transthoracic echocardiography and report on same.

Assist with transoesophageal echocardiography.

Assist with Diagnostic and interventional procedures in Cath. Lab,

Assist with pacemaker and implantable defibrillator procedures.

Report procedure findings and highlighting abnormal findings.

Desirable - Carotid duplex scanning

Dobutamine stress echocardiography

Particulars of Office

The appointment is: A Specified Purpose Contract covering maternity leave

Annual Salary: Chief 1 Cardiac Physiologist payscale (Commensurate with experience etc)

Annual Leave Entitlement: 26 days per annum, pro rata (increasing in January 2023)

Probationary Period: The appointee shall hold office for a probationary period of six months.

Pension Scheme: You will be eligible to join a defined contribution (DC) scheme which the

Organisation has in place through Irish Life. Terms and Conditions Apply.

Working Hours: The core working hours of attendance will be 35 hours per week. Your flexibility on hours of attendance in response to service needs and managements requirements will be a key element of this role. A 4-day working week available.

Location: You will be primarily based in Bon Secours Glasnevin, however you may be required to travel for business purposes within the Group and externally. Therefore you will be required to use your own car, in the performance of your duties. (if relevant if not delete)
