University of South Florida Tampa General Physicians (USFTGP) was created through an advanced affiliation between The University of South Florida and Tampa General Hospital to provide advanced care to patients and their families throughout Florida. Specialties include cardiology, endocrinology, hepatology, organ transplantation, pediatrics, primary care, neurology, OBGYN, neurosurgery & orthopedics.

This position is responsible for coordinating all of the activities of the MUMA clinic. Monitors and assists clinic
staff with the multiple tasks related to referrals, pre-certification, and pre-authorizations necessary to allow
for patient care and procedures. This position is responsible for multiple functions including supporting and
overseeing patient scheduling, patient care coordination, and may be required to triage patient calls to
physicians and coordinate patient appointments. Position requires working knowledge of clinic operations,
policies and procedures, and understanding of clinical department.

Key Accountabilities

• 6 months medical office experience
• Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT & ICD-9 coding
• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Obtains relevant information to initiate & coordinate the authorization/pre-certification process between the referring physician,

insurance carrier, and organization for timely scheduling

• Develops working relationships and recommends procedures between the referring physician, the organization, the insurance

carrier and other agencies for continuity of care

• Serves as Authorization Specialist performing verification of coverages to coordinate patient appointments in a timely manner
• Maintain the patient's EMR by entering detailed notes related to the procedure, benefits, and authorization for a complete &

accurate record

• Maintains overall patient experience and safety, following all emergency clinical policies and protocols, to allow for optimal

experience of care

• Coordinates Specialist appointments for patients in coordination with referral
• Update health maintenance information in the patient’s chart with appointment information · Create reminders in chart for

following due date

• Assist with medical records in-basket in Epic
• Serves as a support role for clinical team and schedulers with daily tasks
