Position: Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Associate; Licensed Marriage Family Therapist, or Associate; Psychologist or Registered Psychological Assistant; or other as licensed or certified by the State of California.

Ocean View Adult Psychiatric Hospital is expanding! This position starts at 30 hours per week with opportunity for full time as census increases.

Summary:

The Case Manager/Therapist is responsible for providing high quality patient care, displaying good skills in assessment, psych diagnosis, treatment planning, group therapy, individual therapy, family therapy, and discharge planning. The Case Manager/Therapist is expected to function as a member of the multidisciplinary team and participate in the Unit’s community relations program. Reports to the Program Director.

This position supports the Mission of the Hospital through the provision of distinctive and compassionate care to our patients.

Performance

• Conducts individual, group, and family therapy sessions. Displays good theoretical knowledge of psychopathology and good treatment technique for each type of therapy.
• Conducts group and individual sessions, displaying good theoretical knowledge of the subject matter and effective communication skills in presenting material.
• Engages in timely, efficient discharge planning. Works in close conjunction with patient, nursing staff, and attending physician. Shows good knowledge of referral/placement process and available community resources.
• Completes psychosocial evaluations on assigned patients in a timely fashion. Displays good interviewing, diagnostic, and report writing skills.
• Participates in weekly treatment planning for each patient, works cooperatively as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team, completes progress notes and discharge plans in a timely fashion.
• Utilizes feedback regarding performance and uses supervision to improve performance.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Referral Development

• Is a member of the Referral Development Committee and effectively participates in the referral development process.
• Communicates with families and community agencies to further enhance referral development

Skills:

Good overall clinical skills, ability to work productively and effectively, ability to function well as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, and ability to represent the program well in interactions both inside and outside the client hospital. Possesses good oral and written communication skills in the English language. Demonstrated knowledge of Evidence Based Practices and/or the Recovery Model of treatment. Working knowledge of DSM. Ability to utilize analysis, experience, and judgment to make decisions.

Licensure/Certification:

Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Associate; Licensed Marriage Family Therapist, or Associate; Psychologist or Registered Psychological Assistant; or other as licensed or certified by the State of California.

Current MAB Certification

Current BLS Certification

Education/Experience:

A Master’s Degree (or higher) in social work, counseling, psychology, or related field preferably from an accredited university. Minimum of one year experience working with individuals with mental illness (adult and/or geriatric) in a social service/behavioral health environment.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged, extensive, walking/standing. Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching. Hand manipulation, both fine and gross dexterity is required for writing and technical skills.
