Under the direction of the Deli/Catering Manager, the Deli/Catering Assistant performs the day-to-day operations of deli and catering services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

In order to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.

• Performs a wide range of duties relative to the food preparation, cooking and closing the deli.
• Responsible for taking customers’ orders, working cash register, and preparing customers’ orders.
• Cleaning and stocking storeroom, refrigerator, and freezer.
• Checking-in food orders, including lifting up to 75 pounds.
• Assist is the order, preparation, and delivery of catering arrangements.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

• Exhibits behaviors and best practices that are consistent with the vision and values of Memphis Jewish Home & Rehab.
• Practices safe work habits to eliminate and control potential safety and health hazards and to maintain a safe work environment.
• Work as part of the team to ensure that Memphis Jewish Home & Rehab principles are practiced and achieved.
• Performs other job related duties as may be assigned by designated and/or authorized staff.

MINIIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• At least 2 years in the food services industry, including light to moderate commercial cooking experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Effective organizational skills
• Basic computer skills
• Excellent Customer Service skills
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality

Shift: 9:00 am – 3:00 pm Sunday – Friday. Deli is closed on Saturdays.
