Primary responsibilities:
- Assure that cattle are scheduled and arrive for each slaughter day at Green Bay, WI plant
- Schedule cattle according to the Predicted Kill Schedule mix
- Hire and dispatch haulers where JBS is responsible for the freight or to assist a supplier
- Assign delivery slots/appointments so as to maintain an adequate flow of cattle
Develop a good and appropriate working relationship with:- Supervisor
- Head of Procurement – Division
- Head of Procurement – Green Bay
- Terminal Manager – JBS Carriers
- Suppliers to be scheduled
- Haulers to be hired or assigned delivery appointments
- Barn Manager – Green Bay
- Cattle Accounting team - Green Bay
Monitor freight rates and cost of split loads so as to minimize freight cost for JBS
Create and distribute reports to all appropriate stakeholders
Assist the rest of the corporate scheduling team as needed or requested
Skillset:
- Cattle Schedulers utilize a web-based custom computer system which is used to record all purchased cattle, all scheduling details, and payment to sellers. From the scheduler standpoint there will be some data entry of purchase agreements and hauling details required.
Skills in Microsoft Excel are utilized daily. Schedulers should be proficient in Excel.
Other:
Typical office work week is Monday-Friday 6:30-5:00 with some hours on a kill Saturday, as necessary. We maintain a 4PM to midnight staffing second shift (Sunday-Thursday) so off hour calls during the week should be minimal. Based on the candidate and situation this position could be based in Green Bay, WI or work performed from a scheduler’s home office location.
There can be some calls to field on weekends if trucks must be dispatched from weekend buys for Monday’s kill. Must be available to field a rare emergency call such as a plant breaking down on a Saturday or after hours which will impact the ability to kill cattle which are in route or whose loading times must be changed – JBS computer equipment and cell phone is provided.
