The University of Maryland School of Medicine is seeking a full-time, contractual Clinic Coordinator to function as a Centralized Line Coordinator at the Maryland Psychiatric Research Center. The Centralized Line Coordinator will answer calls and emails from people in the community seeking help or resources for persons suffering with recent onset of psychosis. They will provide educational resources, assess acuity with input from clinical staff as necessary, and collaborate with clinical programs in Maryland that treat early psychosis to facilitate scheduling.

This position will work in the Maryland Psychiatric Research Center (MPRC) which is located in Catonsville, Maryland on the grounds of Spring Grove Hospital.

Essential Functions
  • Answer calls and e-mails for Maryland Early Intervention Program’s centralized service line – calls received from state-wide mental health providers, consumers, and family members in need of resources, treatment, professional consultation, education, outreach, etc. related to early psychosis.
  • Coordinate scheduling of appointments for consultations with Maryland Early Intervention Program psychiatrists at the request of community providers, family members, and consumers.
  • Coordinate care with early psychosis specialty care clinics in Maryland.
  • Maintain close communication with clinics to determine ongoing availability among clinics across Maryland and to coordinate care.
  • Stay updated on eligibility criteria for all early psychosis specialty care clinics in Maryland.
  • Develop relationships with mental health treatment providers, crisis response teams, and care providers of various types to create a referral and resource pool for consumers not meeting criteria for treatment with an early psychosis clinic in Maryland and to coordinate care.
  • Help FEC staff with coordinating care and clinical operations as needed.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED. Bachelor's degree is preferred.
Experience: Five years performing a full range of clerical support services to include one year coordination work and one year in a medical setting. Comprehensive knowledge of the theory, principles, techniques and practices of the specialty are required. Previous experience working in the Maryland mental health system is preferred.
Other: Certifications and/or licensure may be required based on the specialty. Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of basic medical terminology and related clinical practices and protocols. Ability to perform basic mathematical computations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, students, staff, and clients. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to use computers and other standard office equipment. General knowledge of and ability to comply with confidentiality of records and communications regarding patients/clients. Ability to prepare reports and maintain records. Good organization skills. Strong ability to work independently. Ability to prepare written reports and documentation in a clear and concise manner. Understanding of psychopathology.


Conditions of Employment
Employees in this job class must be CPR certified within the first twelve months of employment. Candidates selected for employment may be subjected to medical inquiries and/or medical examinations to determine ability to perform the job. Overtime, weekend, on-call and shift work may be required in some positions.


Based on the duties of this position, selected candidates are not eligible to participate in the Bargaining Unit (Union).


Salary Range: $49,000 - $56,000
