Position Summary:
Quirch Foods is looking for a Technical Accounting Manager to join our team. This employee will report to the Vice President of Financial Reporting and will lead the day-to-day technical accounting functions of the organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical accounting background and be able to interpret and apply complex accounting principles and standards.
Essential duties and Responsibilities:
The Technical Accounting Manager’s responsibility will span the gamut of accounting processes, from journal entries to leading financial audits and ensuring tax compliance as well as being a key participant in the integrations of acquired companies, and active participant in board presentations and preparation. The person will lead a team of 5 field accountants.
· Oversee the preparation of financial statements in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other regulatory requirements.
· Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial results to internal and external stakeholders.
· Identify and implement accounting policies and procedures that align with industry best practices and applicable regulatory requirements.
· Assist with the implementation of new accounting standards and ensure compliance with new and existing standards.
· Oversee and ensure ASE 842 lease standards are followed and maintained.
· Manage the closing processes (Year-end, Month-end, etc)
· Manage the external audit process and coordinate with auditors to ensure efficient and effective audits.
· Review and analyze financial data to identify trends and variances and provide insights and recommendations to management.
· Provide technical accounting guidance to cross-functional teams, including Finance, Sales, Purchasing, and Operations.
· Collaborate with members of Finance team to prepare accurate and timely financial forecasts and budget projections.
· Assist with integration of systems and human capital of newly acquired organizations.
· Ensure compliance with internal controls and recommend improvements to existing controls.
· Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including senior management, auditors, and external advisors.
· Coach and develop team members to promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Qualifications and Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
· 7+ years of experience in technical accounting.
· Experience with public accounting and/or audit experience preferred.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Strong organizational and time management skills.
