Diamond Technical Services (DTS) is looking for a Chemical Process Engineer for our facility in the Chicago Metro Area.

Requirements:

• · Professional engineer with minimum of 4 to 8 years of experience in chemical process design related roles. Experience with production site, large equipment supplier with turnkey capabilities or engineering design firms are all acceptable.
• · B.S. Chemical Engineer preferred but flexible for the right candidate based on experience.
• · Candidate must have good working knowledge of various equipment typical in process industries and be comfortable sizing and specifying this equipment.
• · Prefer five (5) of the years to have been working in/with facilities regulated under Process Safety Management (PSM) with demonstrated compliance roles in HAZOP and plant documentation.
• · Prefer five (5) of the years to have been working with or in a refining or paint/coatings production facility. Diversity of background in several industries is a plus – especially grain and oil refining.
• · Experience with polyester, urethane, acrylic resins and/or solvent based coatings is a plus.
• · Experience specifying / troubleshooting a diverse array of common plant utility systems such as steam boilers, air compressors, hot oil systems, wastewater, odor control, and flares.
• · Experience coordinating with electrical engineers to define hazardous area electrical classifications (EAC).
• · Experience with plant ventilation designs and managing transitions between different zones.
• · Experience leading small teams or supporting others in a multi-discipline engineering firm.
• · Experience developing PFDs and P&IDs from conceptual designs and able to perform hydraulic calculations, in liquid, vapor or two (2) phase regimes.
• · Able to assess Pressure Safety Relief failure scenarios and size relief valves as required. Must have experience sizing relief valves with associated written reports in prior work experience.
• · Good Communicator – both written and oral.
• · Proven track record of scoping and executing projects and developing project cost estimates.
• · Comfortable working in projects in the $200k to $5 MM total installed cost (TIC) range.
• · Able to work in the office or at a client site and conform to random drug testing program.
• · Candidate will need to be able to support occasional work at client sites where candidate may need to climb ladders to reach elevated platforms.
• · Able to travel up to 15% of the time for clients visits beyond day trip distances. Must have valid US drivers’ license.
