Position Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to teach 200-level general chemistry classes and upper-division organic chemistry and biochemistry classes, including laboratories, to engineering and Pre-MLS (Medical Laboratory Science) students. Duties include providing quality instruction for daytime and possibly evening classes, performing grading and relevant preparation for classes and labs, maintaining appropriate records, and holding 5 office hours per week. The responsibilities of this position also include managing chemicals and equipment for instructional labs, in conjunction with support staff. Additionally, there is the possibility of engaging students in independent projects. The successful applicants will work with other faculty, staff, and administrators to deliver an integrated learning experience in chemistry courses and will be available to teach classes on a variety of days and times.
Teaching Modality: These classes will be principally in-person. Instruction will include both classroom lectures and hands-on laboratory time.
Location: This position will be at Oregon Tech’s Portland Metro campus, located near I-5 in Wilsonville, Oregon.

Department Summary
The Natural Sciences Department at Oregon Institute of Technology, a public polytechnic university,
houses interdisciplinary undergraduate degree programs in Biology Health-Sciences and Environmental Sciences, as well as minors and general education courses in applied physics, biology, chemistry, and sustainability.
The department is located on two campuses; the main Oregon Tech campus in Klamath Falls, OR and a satellite campus in the Portland-Metro area, with significant online course offerings as well. Qualification Requirements
- An earned Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemistry Education or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
- An earned doctoral degree in chemistry, chemistry education, or a related field (ABD will be considered)
- University teaching experience
- Expertise in general chemistry as well as in bioorganic and biochemistry; and/or relevant industry experience
- Expertise using the Canvas learning management system.
- Experience using virtual meeting and collaboration tools for teaching, such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $59,000.00 per year
