How will you contribute to the team?

  • Responsible for the practice of engineering by the company in all projects in all US jurisdictions in compliance with the company’s approved policies and procedures.

  • Under general direction, serves as a recognized technical specialist throughout the company, providing advice on the resolution of major technical problems of marked importance to the organization.

  • Provides technical expertise on programs and projects with substantial fees, developing standards for diverse activities.

  • Upholds engineering ethics and standards of conduct.

  • Performs highly advanced engineering work, involving the solution of unprecedented technical problems that require major technological advances which may open the way for extensive related development, or involving management and coordination of large, complex projects; heavy regulatory agency involvement; and/or unique management requirements.

  • Participates in identifying and recruiting needed engineering talent.

  • Works independently on complex projects and acts as an Engineering authority within the company and globally.

  • Instrumental in technical initiatives in the fields of engineering and technology.

  • Ensures that engineering activities within assigned group are conducted in accordance with external requirements, established procedures and industry best-practices, achieving excellent and cost-effective results.

  • Sets and implements high expectations for conduct of engineering through the engineer group.

  • Mentors engineering group staff to ensure high-level expectations and levels of accountability are maintained.

  • Oversees performance of project engineering managers and conducts independent project design reviews as appropriate.

  • Identifies and directs implementation of required corrective actions that are within approved project scope, cost, schedule and quality baselines.

  • Assigns engineering staff to projects with concurrence of impacted project manager(s).

  • Manages assigned overhead budgets that support required and approved engineering activities.

  • Reviews cost estimates for engineering services.

  • Ensures that projects within assigned group are executed to approved scope, schedule, cost and quality baselines.

  • Leads the engineering region by setting appropriate performance expectations, monitoring performance to those expectations and fairly applying corporate policies in regard to employees.

  • Staffs assigned group with an appropriate mix of disciplines, skills and experience.

  • Appoints appropriately qualified personnel to line-management positions.

  • Recommends project engineering manager appointments.

  • Implements timely and quality commitment management programs within the engineering group, including condition reports, nonconformance reports, corrective action plans and management assessments.

  • Performs other duties as needed.

What will you contribute?

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline required.

  • Master's degree preferred.

  • P.E. License required.

  • A minimum of 15 years nuclear engineering experience required.

  • Experience serving as a subject matter expert in the engineering field.

  • Experienced in managing large technical teams and projects.

  • Must have strong persuasive ability, technical writing and communications skills are expected at this level, proven through technical presentations, technical papers and/or participation in technical committees.

  • Confident and assertive and able to present viewpoint with conviction to superiors and peers.

  • Knowledgeable in current trends in engineering and related technologies.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen to be considered.

Salary Range: $151,000 - $252,000 (Please note: salary may be negotiable depending on experience.)
