The University of Texas Permian Basin welcomes applications for the position of Childcare Specialist

Salary Range

$31,000.00 depending on qualifications

Works with office, academic departments and programs to design and implement effective and sustainable assessment efforts; supports data collection and analysis for campus -wide assessment activities and institutional surveys; reports assessment data to improve institutional service, programs and student learning; and supports activities related to institutional accreditation.

1. Build and maintain effective and productive partnerships across the University.
2. Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate, and use in learning activities and dramatic play.
3. Teach basic skills, colors, shapes, numbers, and letter recognition, personal hygiene and social skills.
4. In addition to teaching, performing cleaning duties, disinfecting, light laundry and dealing with behavioral issues.
5. Communicate regularly with parents regarding children's progress. Occasionally speak to parents to discuss a child's educational development.
6. Implement health and safety standards as required by TDFPS, CPR and First Aid Certification.

1. High school graduation or GED and
2. Two to three years of experience working with young children in a group setting.
3. Must have good reading, writing and organizational skills; must be able to communicate effectively with students and parents; should have knowledge of Texas Department of Family Protective Services Child Care Licensing Standards and have basic personal computer knowledge.
4. Must be dependable, maintain regular attendance to all time policies, follow instructions, have a good job attitude, be cooperative, flexible and have a willingness to accept change and keep up with current trends in the field of Early Childhood Care and Development.

Schedule

Generally, the hours for this position are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 – 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am – 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some departments.

Standard Working Conditions

1. Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
2. Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.
3. Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.
4. Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.
5. Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.
