Chippewa County Family Services is accepting applications for a full-time (40 hours a week) Child Support Lead Worker - Support and Collections Specialist.
Chippewa County Duties: The Support and Collections Specialist manages the Child Support Program and functions as lead worker to the program staff. Performs a variety of professional/paralegal tasks relating to the determination of paternity, establishment, and enforcement of Child Support.
- Provides work direction for child support officers and other staff in the child support unit.
- Trains new staff.
- Serves as a resource to answer questions from staff and respond to complaints from the public.
- Distributes work assignments and coordinates coverage of caseloads when staff members are absent.
- Provides input to supervisor regarding policies, training procedures, and staff performance evaluations.
- Represents the work unit when coordinating casework with other units and the courts.
- Reviews contempt actions, summons and complaints, actions for reimbursement, affidavits, confessions of judgments, orders to show cause and other legal documents prior to referral to county attorney's office to ensure that appropriate actions are being taken and that information referred is complete, accurate and concise.
- Reviews cases returned from county attorney's office and takes appropriate action.
- Drafts findings, orders, and judgments for review by the county attorney.
- Consults with supervisor on special or unusual case, and recommend actions to be taken by the supervisor.
- Recommends new ideas, forms, policies and procedures for the child support/collections unit to the supervisor and agency management.
- Interprets/explains rules, manual material, policies/informational bulletins and office procedure to staff/clients.
- Three (3) years experience in a Human Services agency as a Child Support Officer, Collections Officer or equivalent experience.
Or
- An accredited bachelor's degree in criminal justice, paralegal, business administration, public administration or closely related field and one (1) year experience as a Child Support Officer, Collections Officer, or equivalent.
Chippewa County Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent; and
- Two years business school or technical college
- Three years of relevant work experience; or
- Equivalent combination of
- Annual Certification for SIR/ Security Liaison.
- Annual Certification for PRISM.
- Annual Certification for HIPPA.
- Annual Certification for MAXIS.
- Merit System Eligible.
The examination process consists entirely on experience and training.
