POSITION OVERVIEW


It is the primary responsibility of the Claims Manager to collect information from various sources to determine liability based on the extent of guest property or personal damage. The Claims Manager will collaborate with the Director of Risk Management to support ongoing claims adjustment and litigation management of general liability and auto liability claims to meet operational, financial, and service requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


The following and other duties may be assigned as necessary:

  • Investigate the validity of the damage being claimed including but not limited to identifying potential fraud and appropriate use of authorized vendors and manage any follow up action needed
  • Establish facts of loss, coverage analysis, investigation, compensability/liability/negligence determination, coordination of medical care (as appropriate), litigation management, damage assessment, and settlement negotiations
  • Recommend and implement best practices to ensure complete and thorough claim settlements, legal reviews, and investigations following Company policies and insurance industry regulations
  • Maximize risk transference to responsible third parties
  • Collaborate with third party insurance adjusters to provide information as necessary
  • Temporary or permanent duties and responsibilities may be added to or modified as deemed necessary

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three (3) years experience as a claims adjuster, claims examiner, or claims supervisor, one of which was in a leadership position
  • Ability to properly interpret and make sound decisions in accordance with loss prevention, claims, regulations, and policies
  • Advanced knowledge and ability in active listening, deductive/inductive reasoning, critical thinking, negotiating, diplomacy, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on collaboration and deliver exceptional service in the luxury resort environment
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint and Microsoft Project

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no direct supervisory responsibility.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Member must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state, and local regulations.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in English may also be required.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the Member is regularly required to stand and use hands and fingers to handle or utilize objects, tools, or controls. The Member frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision.

The Member must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and must have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces.
