Client Chef
Job description
Essential Functions
- Prepares and cooks various items according to menu, special dietary or nutritional requirements, and number of portions to be served.
- Orders, picks up and puts away all items needed for food service weekly.
- Inventories supplies and equipment.
- Washes cooking equipment such as pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and other pieces.
- Ensures the cleanliness and functional operation of kitchen appliances and work areas by routinely cleaning and inspecting each piece.
- Apportions and serves food to clients.
- Daily monitoring of all fridges to ensure proper food storage, fridge temperature, and food expiration including all client fridges and freezers.
- Routinely cleans fridges and freezers.
- Assist Executive Director and Program Coordinator on special projects as necessary.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic understanding of or ability to learn sanitation and regulations for workplace safety.
- Basic understanding of or ability to learn food handling techniques, preparation, and cooking procedures.
- Must be able to work quickly and efficiently.
- Must be able to work independently with a willingness to teach cooking skills to clients.
- Must be able to work well under pressure.
- Ability to maintain personal cleanliness.
- Supervisory Responsibility
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
- Work Environment
- This job operates in a professional environment.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
- This is a full-time position (40 hours/week).
- Monday – Friday: 10am-6pm
Required Education and Experience
- Obtain an ANSI Approved Food Handler Certificate.
- High school or vocational school coursework in kitchen basics, such as food safety, preferred.
- One year of related experience preferred.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
