Job description
The UCLA School of Law is seeking a highly energetic Client Coordinator capable of providing a high-level of support to the directors, volunteers, and students of the Veterans Legal Clinic of an exciting Veterans Legal Services Clinical Program. Under the supervision of a licensed attorney, the Client Coordinator will work directly with veteran clients, qualified family members, and community partners who are seeking legal assistance. They will assist directors in managing a lively law office and participate in community outreach events on behalf of the legal clinic.This is a full-time position based at the clinic's office on the Veterans Administration West Los Angeles Campus, but may involve off-site clinic work at the UCLA Law School campus or in other parts of Los Angeles County as needed.

Required/Preferred
Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
Required
Good client skills, and comfort working with individuals who may suffer from emotional and/or physical disabilities.
Required
Detailed knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications. Demonstrated ability to manage data using software, such as Excel and Access. Advanced familiarity with case management systems.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of information with tact and discretion.

Ability to take initiative, pay attention to detail, work independently, organize workflow, establish a productive work environment and follow through on assignments.

Ability to travel offsite throughout Los Angeles County for program meetings and events.

Typing skills to prepare a variety of legal documents, often under deadlines created by litigation.

Ability to work flexibly with changing priorities and deadlines.
Required
Paralegal certificate/degree in paralegal studies from an ABA approved institution or a Bachelor's of Arts/Bachelor's of Science degree.
Preferred
At least two years of previous experience working as a legal secretary, administrative assistant, or paralegal in a law office or legal services organization.

Prior experience with veterans claims and other legal issues involving veterans. Familiarity with issues facing veterans..

Demonstrated ability to organize and present complex information effectively to a range of audiences.

Familiarity and experience with Internet and other search-engine based research and utilizing Lexis/Nexis or Westlaw for research.
