Position Summary
The Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine (GPAM) at the University of North Carolina is recruiting a board-certified/eligible Adolescent Medicine physician to join a growing adolescent medicine program.

This person joins another board-certified Adolescent Medicine specialist in a program that also includes nurse practitioners, LCSWs, a research fellow, and other physicians with interest in adolescent care. We currently have adolescent-focused clinical programs in 3 locations but are growing rapidly. Clinical responsibilities would include time in UNC adolescent subspecialty clinics located in Raleigh and Chapel Hill with additional possible satellite sites. In addition, based on individual interests, there are opportunities to work in a variety of multi-disciplinary clinical settings including a Gender Wellness Clinic, a youth detention center, a Diagnostic clinic with a high proportion of adolescents with functional syndromes, a complex mental health clinic partnered with a child psychiatrist, a family planning clinic and an eating disorder treatment center based on individual interests. Time precepting in the general pediatrics continuity clinic is also an opportunity for those interested.

In addition to clinical programs, the division and institution have important research opportunities in adolescent health. Research interests in the division include the impact of social and contextual factors on health, childhood adversity, and health inequities with additional interest in sexual and reproductive health among adolescent-focused faculty members. The Gillings School of Public Health and the Sheps Center for Health Services research offer opportunities for broader adolescent health research.

The GPAM division is one of the largest divisions in the Department of Pediatrics and in addition to adolescent medicine includes primary care, behavioral health, and Child Abuse pediatrics. The division has a nationally-known and productive research program and faculty in addition to a long record of teaching excellence. The Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area of North Carolina is an attractive place to live and work with great climate, schools, and both mountains and beach within a day drive.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
M.D.; Fellowship-trained and Board certified/eligible in Adolescent Medicine.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Applicants should be board-certified or board-eligible in Adolescent Medicine with broad clinical experience or training, a record of teaching excellence, and interest in developing a scholarly academic career.
