The University of Miami UHealth System is currently seeking a Clinical Dietitian to work at Sylvester Cancer Center in Miami. The incumbent individual will be primarily responsible for the provision of high-quality, cost effective medical nutrition therapy to adult oncology patients, through an interdisciplinary health care team approach. Completes assessments of oral, enteral, parenteral and transitional feeding therapies. plans, implements, monitors, evaluates, and documents patient's response to medical nutrition therapy. Serves as a clinical nutrition resource to patients, physicians and staff. Participates in oncology educational sessions and support groups.

Core Job Functions

  • Performs nutrition interventions following evidence-based standards of practice, as outlined in departmental policies and procedures. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to develop and implement plan of care to meet patients' medical nutrition therapy goals.
  • Performs comprehensive nutrition assessments and reassessments based on calculated or established needs, with measurable goals consistent with the patients' plan of care. Identifies and documents nutrition problems, goals and interventions in medical record. Accurately identifies and calculates enteral and parenteral solutions and makes appropriate recommendation for their use.
  • Evaluates nutrition screening triggers for appropriateness. Initiates and follows patients for nutrient intake analysis and makes recommendations for continuance progression or initiation of alternate therapies.
  • Provides individualized and interactive counseling and education to patients and/or significant others regarding various topics in medical nutrition therapy and Drug Nutrient Interaction, as necessary, to meet patients learning needs.
  • Actively participates in interdisciplinary patient care conferences. Participates in group activities involving patients and their families, and provide pertinent information and education in an inpatient or outpatient setting, as requested.

Certifications/ Licenses Requirements:

  • Active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist (LDN) by the Department of Health, Division of Medical Quality Assurance.
  • Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (RD).

Education Requirements (Essential Requirements) :

  • Bachelor's degree

Work Experience Requirements (Essential Requirements) :

  • One year experience in clinical or general nutrition
  • Oncology Experience
  • Nutrition Support Experience
