About the Role:
Carrying out a range of duties to ensure that the person centered care and well-being of residents is met satisfactorily, including supervision of all staff.
Qualifications:
- Candidates must be registered with An Bord Altranais.
- Strong clinical & communication skills are required.
- Ability to work as part of team & independently.
- Knowledge of HIQA Regulations and standards is essential.
Principal Responsibilities:
- The CNM is responsible for the maintenance of a high standard of patient care which is achieved through professional education and development of all nursing staff, acting as an expert practitioner, managing resources and facilitating communication.
- The CNM will manage Nursing and Healthcare Assistants on their team.
- Ensure the staff allocation is adhered to and that the correct mix of skill and experience is taken into consideration.
- Be responsible for the supervision and development of the nursing team and to take an active part in the delivery of care as appropriate.
- Manage the assigned unit taking responsibility for the safe delivery and co-ordination of nursing services for patients, ensuring effective, efficient and quality specialist nursing care service.
- Provide clinical and management leadership for Staff Nurse positions.
- Facilitate effective communication with patients, relatives, visitors and multi disciplinary teams as necessary and ensure patient confidentiality is respected and maintained at all times.
- Ensure the resident’s register is kept updated for all Admissions and Transfers
- Ensure that assessments are completed and entered into the care plans for new admissions.
- Lead family meetings to ensure that resident’s needs are met in this regard.
- Ensure that end-of-life wishes are documented for all residents.
