Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center, Indiana's first community mental health center, provides comprehensive care for emotional and behavioral problems, including severe mental illness and substance abuse. The Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center offers both inpatient and outpatient services, including several outreach centers as well as clinic- and community-based services.

Job Role Summary

The clinician performs a variety of individual, family and group therapeutic interventions utilizing evidence-based practices. This position manages a caseload of clients identifying therapeutic, rehabilitative and case management needs, engaging other team members in meeting these needs as indicated.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • This is a grant funded position
  • Embraces and operates under the Recovery Model, including AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You) and the spirit of motivational interviewing (MI), and follows the levels of accountability
  • Completes biopsychosocial evaluation (BPSE) and develops diagnostic summary; prepares and monitors clinical treatment plan in collaboration with patient/family and treatment team at intervals determined by guidelines
  • Performs a variety of individual, family and group therapeutic interventions utilizing evidence-based practices
  • Provides consultation for primary care patients to assess for mental health and substance use disorders and link to appropriate services and resources
  • Interprets and applies service and billing procedures according to client needs; completes billing according to guidelines for timeliness and accuracy
  • Meets agency standards of timely completion of all documentation

Job Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Human Services field
  • Candidates with a Master’s of Social Work must have Licensed Social Work (LSW) and be working towards Licensed Clinical Social Work (LCSW)
  • Candidates must have submitted a plan to obtain licensure at the soonest date possible within a maximum allowed of three years
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license that meets Eskenazi Health’s driving policy requirements

  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to be both clear and concise in written and verbal communications
  • Demonstrates solid knowledge of psychiatric/addiction diagnoses and understanding of their impact on behavior and all life domains
  • Willingness and ability to work cooperatively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to interpret and apply complex directives, information, and regulations
  • Crisis intervention skills
