    JOB DESCRIPTION


    JOB TITLE: Instructional Paraprofessional FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
    REPORTS TO: Building Principal PAY GRADE: CLS 03 (Instructional) | CLS 04 (PreKinder)
    LOCATION: Assigned Campus DAYS: 192

    JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY

    This position supports teachers with in-class and small group instruction, supervision of students, redirection of students as needed, lunch room support and transitional support. Some clerical duties may be required. Provide feedback to teachers regarding individual student performance.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Education Level Details
    High School Diploma or GED
    Additionally, instructional paraprofessionals in Title I schools or paraprofessionals supported by Title I
    funds in a targeted Title I school must have 1 of the 3 following qualifications:
    • 2 years of higher education
    • An associate's degree or higher
    • A passing score on the state paraprofessional assessment
    License / Certification Required

    PreKinder
    Must hold or be able to obtain with 30 days, ECT (Pre-Kinder Group Leader)

    Work Experience Required
    Experience working with students preferred

    Other Skills and Abilities Required
    Demonstrated broad knowledge of modern office terminology, procedures, and equipment
    Ability to use a personal computer and standard office software.
    Ability to meet established deadlines
    Strong communication skills, both orally and written
    Ability to interact staff with tact, courtesy and diplomacy
    Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions
    Cultural sensitivity
    Bilingual Preferred

    KEY FUNCTIONS, ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    General
    • Provide instructional reinforcement under the direction of the classroom teacher in executing lesson plans
    • Serve as a positive, nurturing guide for students
    • Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, staff, and community, following and upholding school rules and standards
    • Safely supervise students in both instructional and assessment activities in and out of the classroom
    • Participate in planning sessions with the learning team, communicating with parents and school officials as needed
    • Provide student supervision in groups, at recess, at lunch, and on field trips
    • Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher, work with individual students or small groups
    Instructional Support
    • Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays
    • Assist with the administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments
    • Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom
    • Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers
    Student Management
    • Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside, and outside the classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
    • Keep the teacher informed of student behavioral concerns.
    Records and Reports
    • Keeps informed of and complies with state and district policies and regulations.
    • Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports
    Other
    • Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment
    • Assist in the campus office as needed.
    • Participates in training sessions, faculty meetings, and special events, as required.
    • Maintain confidentiality.
    • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
    • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the campus principal or designee.
