This is what you will do:

Alexion is seeking a highly motivated Co-op to join the in vivo pharmacology function. This position will drive pipeline projects through target validation, candidate selection, and IND-enabling phases in vitro, in vivo, and ex vivo studies. We offer 1:1 training and provide individuals an excellent opportunity to learn and grow, including but not limited to preclinical pharmacology research, organization skills, working with flexibility, and the ability to thrive in an efficient, highly interactive, goal-oriented team environment.

You will be responsible for:

• Work with gene ride, gene therapy, and gene editing in humanized and disease mouse models, develop and characterize various mouse models.
• Perform PD/Efficacy studies to support the preclinical development of gene ride, gene therapy, and gene editing candidates.
• Perform in vitro, in vivo, and ex vivo studies to understand the mechanisms of action.
• Assist in construct design, molecular cloning, and vector characterization.
• Perform biochemical assay (e.g., ELISA, Western Blot, enzymatic kinetics) of biological and tissue specimens from preclinical studies.
• Prepare, review and deliver scientific findings for internal/external use.
• Keep accurate records of research activities and experimental details.

You will need to have:

• 1 year+ hands-on experience in the lab.
• Experience in executing preclinical in vivo studies using mouse models is preferred.
• Skilled in animal handling, blood collection, euthanasia, and necropsy (tissue collection and processing) is plus.
• Experience in molecular biology techniques (cloning, ELISA, Western blot, PCR/qPCR/ddPCR, etc.) is strongly desired.
• Proficiency in basic software (e.g., MS Office) and strong data analysis skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Proven ability in multi-tasking, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• The duties of this role are generally conducted in a lab environment. As is typical of a lab-based role, employees must be able, with or without accommodation, to lift/carry 15/30 pounds unassisted/assisted; work comfortably in a controlled environment with and around biological, infectious, and hazardous materials; gown/degown PPE; use a computer; engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging; engage in problem solving and non-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue; collaborate with others; maintain general availability during standard business hours.
