Communications Liaison / Family Engagement Facilitator Coordinator

Flint Community Schools, an urban public school system with campuses throughout the City of Flint, Michigan, has a long and rich tradition of community education. Flint Community Schools provide a range of academic, extended services and extracurricular activities at the elementary and secondary levels to meet the needs of our students and their families.

Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent, the Title I Communications Liaison /Family Engagement Facilitator Coordinator directs and maintains communication systems with district Title I students, parents, staff and partners. Plans special Title I parent and student projects within the district. Disseminates information to Title I parents and the public to enhance parent understanding of Title I services and supports.

Works collaboratively with the Title I Advisory Councils at each school on communicating important issues including local, state and national updates as it pertains to Title I. Under advisement of the Assistant Superintendent and/or designee, directs the distribution of pertinent information to administrators, employees, community at-large and the media regarding Title I programs, policies, events, and initiatives.

Serving in the role of FEF Coordinator, implements the Title I Community Services Program by contributing to the academic achievement goals (in core subject areas) of the program and by administering (counseling) to the academic and social welfare needs of the Title I students and parents served in the program.

$58,280 Annual Salary

Health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance. Employees shall be subject to the co-payment of health care costs equal to the difference between the premium cost and the annual cost limitation imposed on public employers.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in mass communications, marketing, journalism, or public relations or closely related field is required. Master’s degree is preferred.

Experience:

Three years of experience in public relations, event planning or journalism work preferred.
Requires a thorough knowledge of Title I purpose, policies, rules, regulations, goals and objectives. Must be able to assess, evaluate, and enhance formal, informal, internal, and external communication programs.
Requires considerable knowledge of the culture of the Flint Community School District.
Requires strong writing and editing skills.
Must have exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.
Must be able to communicate both formally and informally with a wide range of contacts both inside and outside the District setting.
Requires strong computer technology skills.
